Liam McGough
Liam McGough is a Geordie comedian.
He has lived in London for the last 18 years so still wears t-shirts in the winter but no longer speaks to people on the tube.
A King Gong winner, Blackout champion, finalist in New Comedian of the Year, Beat the Frog victor and Ding Dong Gong gold medalist, Liam has run the gauntlet of the UK's most brutal and chaotic comedy nights and lived to tell the tale, often over the sound of a slightly confused but undeniably engaged audience.
He's a regular on pro bills and a headliner at other gigs, which is industry code for too
good for the beginners, too polite to ask for more money.
Liam's comedy sits somewhere between sharp and self-sabotaging. His jokes are up-beat, self-deprecating, and slightly deeper than you might think.
Critical reception varies.
His dad calls the material "smart but not funny."
London crowds say it's "funny but not smart."
Liam himself insists it's "genre-defining."
Statistically, one of these is correct, and the other two are almost certainly related.
